ABOUT US
AN INNOVATIVE PROCESS
BE-UP is a company created to market biopolymers developed in Quebec and produced using innovative processes that respect the environment. The biopolymers offered are fully biodegradable and produced from renewable raw materials. These biopolymers are part of a large family of 100% natural compounds: PHA (PolyHydroxyAlcanoates). Equipped with properties equivalent to conventional plastics (mostly based on petroleum products), PHAs offer an alternative to their use. They respond to current environmental and societal imperatives and are produced in accordance with the principles associated with sustainable development. The innovative technologies, used to manufacture them, make them competitive, as well as being 100% natural, biodegradable, compostable, non-GMO products and much more. Their use will help to participate in the societal trend against climate change, while allowing their user to benefit from carbon credits.
Learn MoreTHE TECHNOLOGY
UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE BIOPOLYMER
The biosourced and biodegradable biopolymer synthesis technology created by BE-UP uses a non-pathogenic and non-transgenic bacterial strain fed with sugar sources. These sources may come from plant materials (sugar cane, sugar beets, potatoes, etc.) or residues of agricultural transformation (cellulose) or food. The process does not use toxic solvents and has a negligible ecological footprint compared to conventional petrochemical processes.

THE BE-UP REVOLUTION
OUR BIOPOLYMERS: A WELCOME HELP FOR THE ENVIRONMENT!
Why BE-UP Biotechnology INC.
Our society is becoming increasingly more aware, informed and affected by environmental issues. It is therefore essential to implement strategies to protect our planet and promote sustainable development. Our mission is impregnated by this! This is our mission!
The effects of waste from plastics on all marine and terrestrial ecosystems are now known and measured. The incineration treatment contributes to the emission of greenhouse gases, while burying the problem of the slow degradation of these products (100 to 400 years). Today, 50% of plastic waste is buried. To overcome this problem, BE-UP has developed biodegradable, compostable and recyclable biopolymers that can replace a large number of conventional plastic made objects.
REDUCTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES
By this substitution, we believe we can significantly reduce the use of non-renewable natural resources, namely oil. From 4 to 8% of the world oil is processed into polymers, equivalent to over 200 million tons of crude oil per year.
DECREASE PLASTICS WASTE
The use of our resin will also help reduce plastic waste found in landfills. This waste, made up of 84% of packaging, occupies 18 to 26% of the volume of a landfill. These packages are often for single use.
CHEMICAL POLLUTION REDUCTION
We will also decrease chemical pollution by reducing the use of oil for the manufacture of polymers. Oil refining leads to the emmission of many air pollutants, particularly sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), particulates, carbon monoxide and benzene, as well as many greenhouse gases (GHG).
According to the national pollutant release inventory of Environment Canada, 21% of sulfur oxides (SOx), 13% of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and 19% volatile organic compounds identified in Canada are the result of activities of the upstream sector of the oil industry.
WHY BE-UP BIOTECHNOLOGY INC. STANDS OUT COMPETITION?
Single bioprocess of fermentation-purification-extraction with an ecological footprint;
The chemical structure of its semi crystalline form of biopolymer with a high molecular weight;
Use of non-pathogenic and non-genetically modified bacteria;
Nanospheric Structure or microparticulate of our biopolymer allowing penetration of the skin of up to 20 microns;
Patented technology to form emulsion in aqueous phase PHBV;
Purity grades of up to 99.99%;
The possibility to graft an active agent or vitamin,with absorption time that can be controlled and a barrier to UVA and UVB;
The absence of solvents in all our processes: This factor is critical for all cosmetic and biomedical applications.
Absorption or degradation that can be controlled;
UVA and UVB barrier;
OUR KEY VALUES
At BE-UP Biotechnology Inc., our values are:
Innovation
Through our department of research and development, we are constantly improving our products and our production process. As such, we maintain a competitive advantage by responding to market needs, while reducing the costs and impacts of our production. We give our customers priority in this process.
The environment
Our purpose is to offer an eco-friendly product eco-friendly, substituting some non-biodegradable conventional plastics by a polymer 100% biodegradable. We have developed PHA biopolymers and we are confident that our technology can reduce the use of non-renewable natural resources, decrease the amount of waste in landfills, reduce chemical air, water, and soil pollution and also contribute to the slowing of the global warming phenomenon.
Social responsibility
BE-UP makes efforts to social responsibility both internally and externally. We are invested in each of our stakeholders and care for their mutual benefit in our relationship with then.First, for our employees, it is important for us to have the right conditions (work environment, training, compensation, etc.) Second, with our suppliers, our priority is to establish long-term relationships for mutual benefit. With our customers, to create long lasting relationships through as well as with our customers, through quality procedures and adequate information service. Finally, for the communities living around the production units and which may, directly or indirectly, benefit or suffer from the effects of this economic activity, we want to ensure a stable socio-economic development model.
OUR GOALS
Continue intensive research and iterate on the development process in order to remain a leader in the PHA market;
Establish partnerships with major groups, to accelerate the development of new products and marketing in new markets;
Applying the principles of sustainable development of the company, maximizing the local benefits of the company's activities and establishing a close network of procurement and processing companies.
